Working in partnership with Nottingham College we’ve now completed the Cliff Road Community Garden. The garden has seating, with two picnic tables and two benches and give new cherry blossom trees for local residents in the Cliff Road, Shortwood Close and Harnett Close area to enjoy.
Local Councillors, Sam Webster and Angharad Roberts are hosting a community open day in July to officially open the garden.
We’ve also planted another 11 new trees during the Spring across the City Centre, bringing us up to more than 50 new trees planted in the City Centre since May 2019.
Your Castle Ward Councillors, Angharad Roberts and Sam Webster allocated some of their local budget to complete highway resurfacing at Lenton Road in front of the Nottingham Castle Gatehouse, after your feedback that the road surface was heavily patched and damaged.
Further road surface treatment and highway improvements are planned for the coming year across the ward, including:
- East Circus Street surface treatment
- North Circus Street surface treatment
- Upper College Street surface treatment,
- Mount Street resurfacing
- Pemberton Street highway and pavement resurfacing
- Short Hill highway and footpath resurfacing
Improvements and extensions to safe cycle routes are currently also happening on Canal Street and Station Street. We’re also looking across the ward at locations where dropped-kerbs could be added to improve your journeys.
Ward Walk in The Park Estate accompanied by representatives of NPEL and Community Protection
Weekly ward walks led by your local ward Councillors have been taking place throughout the Spring and Summer.
Ward walks are designed to bring a number of Council departments and other partner organisations together to focus on tackling street level issues in specific areas of the ward. Street cleanliness, graffiti, housing, waste and anti-social behaviour issues are all picked up for action.
We’ve also been taking part in the Nottingham Big Spring Clean with City Council staff, community volunteers and Nottingham City Homes.
