Health care is an incredibly personal issue for me. I had two difficult pregnancies, so I understand the stress that can be caused by a medical emergency. And I know I'm not alone -- the number one issue I hear about on the campaign trail is the rising cost of health care.
Our current system is one of sky-high costs and inefficiencies, and we in Texas have the highest uninsured rate in the nation. That needs to change.

Senator Cornyn thinks the answer to our problems is to undo the progress we've made. He voted 18 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act (which would strip millions more people of their health care), and he hand-picked the judges currently weighing the lawsuit that would dismantle it -- including the protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
We can't go back to when insurance companies could discriminate against folks with pre-existing conditions or sell junk plans that leave people saddled with debt. What we need to do is create a public option for anyone who wants it, so that every American can live healthier, longer lives.
Insurance companies are making record profits, and your premiums are paying executives' huge salaries and bonuses. Add your name if you agree it's time to call their bluff and force them to compete with a Medicare buy-in option.
We also need to support organizations that are providing our communities with sorely needed women's health care services and increase access to sex education, affordable over-the-counter contraception, and cost-effective childcare.
When I'm in the Senate, I'll fight for a health care agenda that will improve care and lower costs for hardworking Texans -- not increase profits for big insurance executives. But I need to know you're with me on this.
