Hi John,
Did you see the news?
A ProPublica and New York Times report revealed that the consulting firm McKinsey helped the Trump administration deport immigrants faster and cheaper by spending less on food and medical care.
This led the New York Times editorial board to call on presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, who used to work for McKinsey, to give voters more information about his work at the firm.
Similarly, I’m calling on Rep. Derek Kilmer to give the voters of Washington’s 6th Congressional District more information about his work at McKinsey. Kilmer worked for McKinsey from 1999 to 2002, and McKinsey employees as a group are his fourth largest contributor: $54,850 total. Additionally, Kilmer has received in donations:
- $29,000 from General Dynamics, a defense contractor that processes and tracks immigrant children ripped from their families.
- $1,268 from Palantir, which played a key role in arresting families for deportation.
- $1,000 from an ICE contractor-funded PAC.
What work did Rep. Kilmer do for McKinsey? His constituents deserve to know.
Kilmer says he wants less corporate money in politics, but he’s taken $3,165,890 from corporate PACs.
Corporate Kilmer says he supports the climate, but he’s taken $147,629 from Big Oil.
Corporate Kilmer says he cares about the opioid crisis, but he takes money from the Big Pharma companies who created it.
I’m tired of hypocrisy in politics and I know you are, too. We deserve a representative who does what they say. We deserve honesty, not empty promises.
Thank you,
-Rebecca
P.S. So far we’re $938 away from hitting our fundraising goal this week. It’s critical as we head into the holiday season that we’re prepared to hit the ground running in the new year—with a strong ground game already underway.
