From Joe Manchin’s obstruction to the Supreme Court taking away our rights and making us less safe, our country and society are at a crossroads. We cannot give up the fight.

We received word late this week that Senator Joe Manchin―along with corporate-funded Democrats in the House―is killing critical aspects of the tax and investment plan being negotiated right now. Specifically, Manchin cut the entire climate package and taxes on the super-rich and corporations, which should be used to pay for critical investments in our future.

From the climate crisis to guns to attacks on our democracy and immigrants, it feels like we have lost the last two generations of progress we’d made.

Americans turned out in record numbers in the 2020 presidential election to fight for justice and human needs―and what we’ve gotten instead is a right-wing Supreme Court that takes away our rights while making us less safe, and a divided Congress that is only able to deliver on a narrow set of policies.

We’re not done fighting! We’re fighting for a Millionaires Surcharge and a Billionaires Income Tax to reverse the Trump tax cuts and to ensure the wealthy start paying their fair share in taxes.

We’re fighting to defend our democracy against Donald Trump’s Big Lie and against voter suppression laws passed in 19 states that intentionally attack the voting rights of Black, brown, and LGBTQ+ communities.

We’re fighting for investments in our future from affordable child care to affordable health care to housing and environmental justice.
