Meet Lisa! |
Greetings Friend! I am Lisa Lynn Chapman, and I am thrilled to join Battle Born Progress (BBP) and Institute for a Progressive Nevada (IPN) as the Nevada Disinformation State Manager. Wait?! That is a real job? Yes, it is! I will be spending my time working with other BBP/IPN staff to identify and counter disinformation messaging that affects our elections and issues that are important to Nevadans. I love Nevada. I moved here when I was 11 years old. I graduated from high school here. I also have degrees in theatre, communications, and law, all from UNLV. I had a brief stint in Virginia, but I spent my whole time trying to get back home to Nevada. Some of you may know of me from my work in the anti-violence movement for several years here in Southern Nevada. My last position was with the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. I was honored to work with victim advocates from all over the state. Before that, I worked with SafeNest in many capacities, but most visibly as their media spokesperson. Additionally, I worked on policy committees and lobbied both state and national elected officials on various issues. For years, I have worked with Annette and others from BBP on different issues, but most significantly, passing Universal Background Checks. So, to say I am excited about working here is an understatement. And my new position? I can’t think of a better use of my skills, education, time, and passion than to help stop the spreading of lies and disinformation damaging our democracy. Once again, I am honored to have this opportunity to help create change in Nevada. I work with A Public Fit Theatre Company (www.apublicfit.org) as an Associate Producing Director in my spare time. If you are interested in professional live theatre with a social justice bent–APF is the company for you. My other interests include all things Lord of the Rings and Tolkien, Hazel, my current feline overload, and hosting nerdy game nights with my friends. I can’t wait to meet many of you at BBP’s upcoming Celebrate Progress on September 7 at the Paiute Golf Resort and virtually!
