Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 65 | July 16th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, Another week, another sad continuation of the failed policies of Hochul/Biden one-party control. While every day New Yorkers are experiencing chaos in the streets and criminal justice system, the radical economic policies are taking a toll on our wallets. Inflation has hit a staggering 9.1% and gas prices continue to crush low and middle-income New Yorkers the highest. With the multitude of crises that we face, what are our leaders like Kathy Hochul focused on? Issues that only appeal to the most radical, far-left voters: abortion up until birth, stripping our police of funding and protection, and allowing foreign citizens to vote in our elections. She has given Soros-backed DA Alvin Bragg another pass, refusing to condemn him for his egregious prosecution of bodega worker Jose Alba, who was trying to protect himself from a violent, unprovoked attack. Meanwhile, thanks to her radical cashless bail law, Mexican cartel members were allowed to walk free after being caught with $1.2 million worth of drugs. The only way to stop this madness is to change governors. Lee Zeldin has pledged to fire Bragg on Day One and return safety to our streets. Voters are ready to turn their back on the failed one-party system. The red wave is sweeping through New York because people want to see common sense and balance restored to our government. With Congressman Lee Zeldin at the top of the ticket leading the charge to save our state, we know that we will win because losing is NOT an option. He comes from a rising generation of young people who wish to make positive change in our communities. NYGOP Must See News: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul Weighs Stripping Police Of Protections Amid Crime Spike Daily Caller Hochul’s unclear position has caused many Republicans, including Republican New York Rep. and gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin, to illuminate the inconsistencies, the NYP reported. Zeldin accused Hochul of being weak and unable to lead the state. “We are living in a twilight zone when our brave law enforcement heroes are treated like criminals and criminals are treated like heroes,” NY GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy told the DCNF. “Getting rid of qualified immunity would have a chilling effect on policing and officers’ ability to do their jobs. Kathy Hochul is pandering to the radical left and playing politics with our safety, that’s why electing Lee Zeldin as governor is our only hope to stop this nonsense.” Confusion around Hochul’s stance comes at a time when New York City is seeing crime spike 36% higher than this time last year,, according to the NYPD. Hochul’s office did not respond to the DCNF request for comment. Read Full Here Lee Zeldin vows special prosecutor on New York nursing home COVID deaths if elected governor New York Post Republican gubernatorial nominee Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-Suffolk) is vowing to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes on “day one” if elected over Gov. Kathy Hochul this November. “The special prosecutor should pursue justice for thousands of New York families who have lost their loved ones and should not give up that fight,” the GOP hopeful told the Post Wednesday. “If a special prosecutor determines that no criminal statutes were violated then so be it so long as it’s a thorough investigation that seeks out the truth,” he added. Such an investigation would focus on actions taken by ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the early months of the pandemic, including a controversial March 2020 directive that critics say contributed to the death toll among nursing home residents. Read Full Here Hochul stalling nursing home investigation, minority leader says Times Union Assembly Minority Leader William Barclay issued a statement last week denouncing Gov. Kathy Hochul’s handling of a pending investigation into COVID-19 nursing home deaths. It read: “Since taking office, Gov. Kathy Hochul has insisted a full review of the state’s COVID-19 pandemic response is forthcoming. “Yet, as the weeks and months linger on, no such report has been released nor has the administration even hired any consultants or even begun taking contract bids to get to the bottom of what happened."In May, Hochul announced that she’d be launching an independent analysis to determine why the state made the decision to send COVID-19 positive hospital patients back into nursing homes, which resulted in deaths estimated to be in the thousands. “It appears that while the families of those who died continue to desperately seek clarity and answers, the governor is in no rush to provide them,” Barclay’s statement continued. Read Full Here New York led U.S. in jobless claims increase Spectrum News/NY 1 Unemployment insurance applications ticked upward for the week ending July 2 — fueled by a large increase initial claims made in New York, federal data released Thursday showed. Initial unemployment claims increased by 9,000 applications to 244,000. New York state reported the largest increase in initial claims in the country at 5,165, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. California, a more populous state, was fourth in increased unemployment claims at 2,823. Businesses and state officials are girding for a potential recession as high inflation and gas prices have driven uncertainty in the economy. Meanwhile, New York owes billions of dollars in unemployment insurance debt to the federal government, and an interest rate increase could lead to what in effect would be tax increase for employers in November. Read Full Here Most Dems want Biden to step aside for 2024 election: poll New York Post The future looks more and more bleak for President Biden. Nearly two-thirds of Democratic voters (64%) want the party to pick a different candidate for the 2024 presidential race, while more than three-quarters of Americans (77%) say the country is moving in the wrong direction, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Monday. Only 13% say that the US is on the right track, the fewest since the depths of the Great Recession more than a decade ago. As the White House struggles to respond to sky-high inflation, Biden’s job approval rating has fallen to 33%, including just 70% among Democrats. Read Full Here Ready to take back our state?
