Hey Friend, it’s Amina King, John’s daughter. This election cycle is a special one for me. Not only is it the first election that I’m eligible to vote in, but my very first ballot cast will be to elect my dad as Maryland’s next Democratic governor!

As a first-time voter, I have a lot on my mind. I’m voting for my future – for a healthy Chesapeake Bay, for student loan debt relief, and for common sense gun control to keep students safe in schools. And I am so lucky that my dad is running for governor to ensure that my future – and the future of all Marylanders – will be more safe, just, and prosperous than the current status quo.

I cannot wait to vote for the only candidate truly devoted to progressive change (honestly, I’d be just as excited even if he wasn’t my dad!). But since he is my dad, I know better than most just how good of a governor he will be and that he will lead with the same grace, compassion, and humility that my sister, Mireya, and I have been so lucky to grow up with.

Primary Election Day is this Tuesday, July 19th, and I’m calling on each and every one of you to step up and cast your vote for the only candidate committed to bold investment in climate action, fiercely protecting and expanding the right to choose, and ensuring every kid gets a world-class education, regardless of what zip code they live in.

Friend, I’m asking you to vote for my amazing dad: John B. King Jr.
