It has recently been discovered that Speaker of the House Philip Gunn is recruiting Democrats to switch to the Republican Party. These Democratic politicians have made public statements against the republican party and have openly opposed the Republican Party Platform. Doing this increases the number of elected republicans but weakens the party platform and limits the party's ability to pass conservative legislation.
