John,

Our democracy as we know it continues to be threatened and under attack. I repeat: our democracy is under attack.

As the Pennsylvania House Democratic Leader, I have seen many of these attacks firsthand. The Republican majority in the PA General Assembly silences anyone who wants to speak out against them. They do not even allow discussion on amendments to bills that won’t let people vote or allow people to make their own decisions about their bodies. We are the duly elected representatives of millions of voters, and they are silencing all of us.

Of course, that’s no surprise. They tried to silence those same voters in 2020, when they didn’t like the outcome of the election.

The only way out of this voting rights crisis is through the ballot, John. That’s why I’m asking you to donate $20 right now to support the efforts of the New Pennsylvania Project in expanding the electorate. Your contribution will go directly to engaging Black, brown, and young voters year-round.

Pennsylvania is the place where American democracy was born. Lawmakers in Philadelphia 245 years ago debated allowing the People to determine their future and throw off the yoke of a mad king.

Pennsylvania should likewise lead the nation and the world in democracy. It should be easier and safer to vote here than anywhere else on our planet.

We must expand the electorate in order to save our democracy here in Pennsylvania. That is why the New Pennsylvania Project’s work is critical to our state’s democracy. Will you donate $20 right now to help them expand the electorate? Your contribution will go directly towards saving our democracy here in the birthplace of democracy: Pennsylvania.

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in under-represented communities of color and immigrant communities. We will register them to vote, provide education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize people to vote in every election.
