AKRON, OH — Today, former Ohio House Minority Leader and candidate for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District Emilia Sykes announced that her campaign raised $543,961.03 in the second quarter of 2022 with roughly $600,000 cash on hand.
"Emilia’s impressive haul and lead in the polls is evidence that her campaign has momentum because northeast Ohioans and working families across this state want a fighter in Washington who will work to lower costs, keep their communities safe, and protect a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body,” said Sykes spokesperson Samantha Herd. “While her opponent is more concerned with punishing women and putting them in jail for having an abortion, Emilia is ready to hit the ground running to give Ohio families some breathing room and put money back in their pockets.”
Emilia’s average online contribution was $43 dollars, displaying strong grassroots support.
Last month, Emilia’s campaign released a poll showing her leading her opponent 47-45 percent. Sykes is a DCCC Red to Blue candidate and has the endorsement of over 40 local elected officials in Summit and Stark counties; multiple labor unions, including the Ohio AFL-CIO, over a dozen members of Congress including Senator Sherrod Brown, and nearly 20 national political organizations, including EMILY’s List, CBC PAC, and more.
