John,

One of my main goals in office is pretty ambitious: Restoring faith in our
government. 

Congress is about as popular as the cockroach. As a whole, we have a
consistently low approval rating regardless of which party is in
charge–and the lack of faith in our government to serve Americans is a
fundamental problem for our democracy. 

You’re not always going to agree with your representative or the way they
may vote for things. But Americans deserve to know that their Member of
Congress isn’t voting one way or another because of a lobbyist or
corporate PAC’s money and influence, that they’re being a good steward of
taxpayer dollars, and that they’re not abusing their power for personal
gain.

I’ve been proud to introduce bills that would restore faith in government:
banning Congress members from trading stocks, strengthening judicial
ethics, increasing transparency over spending of taxpayer funds, and
reducing the influence of dark money in politics. 

I’m proud to be one of the few Members of Congress who rejects corporate
PAC money, contributions from lobbyists, and money from executives at Wall
Street Banks, Big Oil companies, and Big Pharma firms.
