Dear John,

We did it! On Monday, we braved hours of cold and rain to rally as the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in an NRA lawsuit. We were denouncing the NRA’s attempt to use the courts to roll back gun safety laws across the country. And justices heard us loud and clear! The Court is signaling that it will side with gun safety, but we need to let the NRA know this — when gun safety laws are on the line, we will defend them every step of the way

Please add your name to our pledge to protect against any and every attack on gun safety!

Brady joined Giffords and Everytown in organizing Monday’s #GunLawsSaveLives rally at the Supreme Court. We arrived at 4:00 a.m. and spent hours in the rain calling for the Supreme Court to protect our right not to be shot.

“I’m in a room full of heroes. And we’re going to get gun safety legislation passed.”

Those are survivor Fred Guttenberg’s moving words as he addressed the room at the National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence at St. Mark’s Church in Washington, D.C. Held each year by the Newtown Foundation and Newtown Action Alliance, the interfaith vigil brings together survivors and families from across the country to name and remember their loved ones and #HonorWithAction. The event uplifted survivor voices in a way not often experienced in Washington. Kristen Song, whose son, Ethan, was killed by family fire, shared how she channels her grief into action. Rep. Lucy McBath spoke of her son, Jordan, and how she will never stop fighting to end gun violence.

Throughout December, we're encouraging community members to hold local vigils or remembrance events, using the Sandy Hook marker as part of a nationwide effort to call to #EndGunViolence.

Sign up to host your own vigil or find an event near you.

URGENT: Congress Has Just 13 Days Left to Approve Gun Violence Prevention Funding!

It’s been more than 20 years since Congress funded research into gun violence prevention. In June, the House approved funding to study this epidemic. That was historic progress, but now time is running out to make it final. The Senate has only until December 20 to finalize spending for 2020. We need to urge lawmakers to approve this lifesaving funding! This isn't about politics — we need answers that will save lives. Please send a message urging your senators to approve federal funding for research to prevent gun violence!

Keep Your Family Safe and End Family Fire This Holiday Season 🎁

Holiday celebrations tend to bring more children into the home, and we know that 4.6 million children live in homes with access to an unlocked or unsupervised guns. Especially as we travel and visit other homes, we need to ensure that curious hands can't come across unsecured firearms. Read our blog for tips and information on safe gun storage.

Brady Endorses Gun Safety Champions for U.S. House

We've continued our endorsements for gun violence prevention champions, including Wendy Davis (TX-21), Eugene DePasquale (PA-10). We're also proud to endorse 10 active duty veterans from states across the country. We endorsed these veterans the same week that our country has suffered two shootings at Naval bases, with attacks at the Pearl Harbor military base in Hawaii and the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL.

What will it take for Senator Mitch McConnell to take action to prevent gun violence? We can’t allow this to become our new normal. Join us in demanding McConnell pass common-sense gun reform!

We thank the Newtown Foundation and Newtown Action Alliance for hosting an emotional yet uplifting vigil as we near the 7th anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. It is events like these that remind us of how ending gun violence is an uphill battle, but one that is worth fighting for each and every day because of the victims and survivors. We will never stop fighting to #EndGunViolence.

Thank you to Newtown Action Alliance for such a powerful event.

Also this week, we thank Connecticut lawmakers for announcing a historic initiative to divest from the gun industry. Connecticut Treasurer Shawn Wooden’s plan would reallocate $30 million in state pension funds invested in companies that manufacture ammo for the civilian market. This is bold action to reform the gun industry, and it’s another example that we can take action to prevent gun violence without changing the law.
