‌ ‌ WEEKLY UPDATE July 16th, 2022 Dear Kansas friends, Thank you for your interest in receiving my newsletter. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family. WE ARE HIRING! Team LaTurner is now hiring interns for the Fall Semester in our Washington DC, Topeka, and Pittsburg offices. This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of working in Congress. This is a paid internship and applications close on August 1st! If you have any questions, please give our office a call. CLICK HERE TO APPLY! Op-ed: Inflation is a Tax on Every Kansan As I travel across Eastern Kansas, rising prices continue to be the number one issue for families. Inflation is a hidden tax on everyone and will cost Kansas households over $5,000 this year — an enormous price to pay for Democrats' failed economic agenda. Read my latest op-ed in the Pittsburg Morning Sun HERE. Statement on the FY2023 NDAA I proudly voted YES on the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023. The United States military is the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen, and it's Congress’s duty to ensure our servicemen and women have the resources they need to keep themselves and our nation safe. The FY2023 NDAA improves the lives of our soldiers and their loved ones by providing a pay raise for servicemembers and expanding benefits to families and spouses. This package also divests billions of taxpayer dollars from outdated systems and instead focuses on modernizing our Armed Forces to ensure we are properly equipped to deal with the growing threats from our adversaries, specifically Russia and China. This bipartisan NDAA takes the necessary steps to protect our brave servicemen and women, advance America's military readiness, and defend our interests at home and abroad. Panasonic Comes to Kansas Welcome to Kansas, Panasonic! This multi-billion dollar investment will create thousands of jobs and send a clear message to the world that Kansas is open for business. I look forward to watching this project progress and celebrating the finished facility. Meeting with the Kansas Superintendents Association Great meeting with superintendents from multiple Kansas school districts this week. We discussed ways to address and solve the issues facing our education system in Kansas. Thanks for stopping by! Fighting to Protect Life On Friday, House Democrats passed radical legislation to legalize abortion on-demand up until birth. As I said in the Oversight Committee this week, state & local elected officials closest to the people they represent should construct our nation’s abortion laws—not Washington politicians. Watch my Oversight Committee Remarks HERE. Inflation Hits New High Inflation was at 1.4% when President Biden took office. Inflation hit 9.1% in June—a new 41-year high! President Biden’s failing economy continues to crush family budgets. It's time to rein in federal spending and provide much-needed economic relief to Kansans. House Passes Veterans Burn Pit Legislation This week, I proudly voted in favor of the Honoring our PACT Act. This legislation, spearheaded by Senator Moran, will provide 3.5 million toxic-exposed veterans with the benefits and care they deserve from the VA. Read more HERE. ‌ ‌ Rep.
