Hey John, Kim Allen here.

Just a few weeks ago, we all learned of the devastating news that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, rolling back decades of legal precedent and launching a direct attack on women and reproductive rights.

But since then, we have seen huge movements of folks from across the country standing up and demanding change — and now, it’s more important than ever that we make sure voters are able to make their voices heard and hold their elected leaders accountable.

Here’s why that matters:

Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified Roe v. Wade into law. But then, the bill failed in the Senate after every single Republican voted against it. With more Democratic Senators, we would have been able to pass that bill and defend women’s right to choose.

And now, the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs has left the right to choose up to the states – and in the process, highlighted the important role of state legislative races in protecting reproductive rights.

Elections matter. So there’s only one way forward: We have to continue fighting for voters, so that they can elect Democrats up and down the ballot in every corner of the country.

But to ensure that happens, we need fair and free elections. That’s where Power the Vote comes in. We’re funding voter protection staff in key battleground states, and with your support, we’ll be just as successful as we were in Georgia in 2020.

We Fund Voter Protection

In 2020, we ran the Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program in Georgia, when the state flipped blue for the first time in nearly 30 years.

We pioneered a new model of voter protection, built on sustained investments and long-lasting relationships.

Now, we’re building on that success and adapting the Georgia model to fight voter suppression in other states.
