Bad news – National Republicans are stepping up to flip Maine red and give their extremism a new home: The Republican State Leadership Committee officially added the Maine House to their list of chambers where Republicans could take over this fall.

If Republicans take back the Maine House this fall, it could put all of our progress at risk. Without Roe , we need to protect our Democratic majorities at every level to keep abortion access safe and legal in Maine. The GOP platform is anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ+, and anti-science – and it has no place in our state.

We’ve seen what’s happened in other states when Republicans take over: books are banned, abortion care is illegal, LGBTQ+ rights are stripped away.

With Democratic majorities and Governor Mills, Maine has been able to stop policies like that in their tracks. We’ve been able to protect our LGBTQ+ communities by banning conversion therapy, we’ve sent $850 direct checks directly to families to help with rising costs, and we have protected reproductive rights. All of this is exactly why the RSLC is targeting us.
