Combatting President Biden's Self-Made Energy Crisis

At this week's House Republican Leadership press conference, I discussed how President Biden and Washington Democrats' big government agenda has led to the worst inflation numbers in 41 years. Even still, President Biden jetted over 5,000 miles to Saudi Arabia on Air Force One to beg for more foreign oil production while ignoring America's energy producers. But the truth is, President Biden doesn't need to go to Saudi Arabia to find a way to produce more energy. Instead, he could travel less than 1,000 miles to Port Fourchon — the hub of drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Biden Administration also recently released its five-year offshore oil and gas leasing plan with an option for no offshore lease sales nationwide. This plan was an opportunity to unleash American production offshore and begin to reclaim our energy dominance so we can lower gas prices. Instead, President Biden continues to limit American energy production while at the same time begging foreign countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia to produce oil for us.
Hard-working families across the country are paying dearly for President Biden’s self-created energy crisis. They’re being forced to choose between filling their tanks or feeding their families. It's past time for President Biden to open up American energy production and help ease the pain families across America are feeling at the pump.
Awarding Our Congressional App Challenge Winner
I recently visited Haynes Academy to give Vaishnavi Kumbala her award for winning the 2021 Congressional App Challenge for Louisiana's First Congressional District. Vaishnavi’s app, known as "Saplings," provides users with engaging resources to reduce stress and better manage anxiety in their lives.
As a former computer programmer, I am always excited to see students taking an interest in the applied sciences and exploring new ways to allow technology to make our everyday lives easier.
I applaud Vaishnavi for her creativity and hard work in developing this app and commend Haynes Academy for encouraging students to study computer science and engage in technological education.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
