Hey Climate Friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we are reaching out to you all today. 

Unfortunately, Senator Manchin has rejected the climate elements of the reconciliation package. 

CCL has released this official statement about the disappointing news

Many CCLers (ourselves included) are going to be grappling with what this means for their climate advocacy. Volunteers will be saddened, confused, and even angry, and that’s ok. Although CCL remains adamant that this setback won’t deter us from pushing for needed bipartisan climate legislation, we need to allow for space to grieve.

We encourage everyone over the next few weeks to double down in the efforts to be an oasis in the storm for each other.

We also would like to remind everyone about two upcoming events where we might unwrap this set-back:

• Our 4 pm Sunday Social Hours will provide space for volunteers to discuss what they are feeling without judgment. 
• Our July 28th Q&A session with Madeleine Para will be a great opportunity for volunteers to have their questions answered about where CCL goes next.
