Friend,
Next week, I will be hosting a telephone town hall and a Facebook Live town hall to provide an update on my work in Congress and answer your questions. These will be my eleventh and twelfth virtual town hall events and I'd love to have you join the conversations. Being accessible and transparent is a priority for me as your Representative. That is why I have held an in-person town hall in all twenty counties in our district and when I'm in Washington, I frequently hold virtual town halls so that we can connect.
The feedback I receive at these town halls and across our communities is invaluable to me as I work for you in Washington. Iowans from all walks of life continue to tell me about the negative impact President Biden's and Speaker Pelosi's policies are having on their daily lives. I'll continue fighting against the chaos and dysfunction in DC and telling your stories so that we can deliver results, help Iowans, and get our country back on the right track.
You'll always know where I stand on issues that matter to you and your feedback will always drive my work in Congress. I hope to hear from you at one of my virtual town halls next week!

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Phone Number: 988
I wanted to be sure that you know starting tomorrow, July 16th, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number will be changing to 988. It's okay to not be okay, and I hope this makes it easier for those who need help to reach out and receive assistance as soon as possible. The prior National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 800-273-TALK (8255), will remain active indefinitely as well.
There is a growing mental health crisis in this country, and this is the first of many steps we can take to provide help to those who are struggling. While there is more to be done to bolster mental health access nationwide, in the meantime, I encourage all of you to check in on your friends, neighbors, family, and coworkers. Checking in and letting someone know you care about them can make all of the difference.

The PACT Act: Fulfilling a Promise to Veterans
We promise those who serve our country that we will take care of them when they return home. This week, I voted for the bipartisan PACT Act. This legislation helps fulfill the promise we've made to our nation's veterans by ensuring that those exposed to toxic hazards, such as burn pits and Agent Orange, can access necessary medical treatment. Those who answer the call to serve our nation should know that they will receive the care and benefits they were promised, and I'll continue working across the aisle for our veterans.

In June, inflation hit 9.1%, the highest spike in over 40 years. The Biden Administration’s economic policies are failing American families — rising prices are eroding budgets and making daily life unaffordable for Iowans, especially those in rural communities. The last thing Iowans need right now is more spending and tax hikes that President Biden and Speaker Pelosi have proposed. I’ll continue to fight for common sense economic policies that will bring costs back down and get our economy working for everyone again.

Hearing From Iowa Agriculture
Iowa Pork Producers Association
I enjoyed sitting down with members of the Iowa Pork Leadership Academy in DC this week. We talked about their future in the agriculture industry and my work to support rural development and Iowa producers. Can’t wait to see what these young leaders accomplish!

Iowa Renewable Fuels Association
I met with the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association this week. We celebrated that the House passed legislation that will permit the year-round sale of E15. Thank you for your tireless advocacy on behalf of Iowa biofuels producers!
Iowa Corn Growers Association
It was great to have folks from Iowa Corn Growers Association in DC to discuss the challenges farmers are facing. Rising input costs, particularly for fertilizer and fuel, are top of mind for Iowa farmers right now. I will continue working to rein in wasteful spending and pushing back against overregulation from this Administration.

Poll: Is Our Country on the Right Track?
A new poll recently revealed that only 13% of Americans believe our country is on the right track. This week, I asked Iowans what they thought, and 79.6% said that they believe our country is not headed in the right direction.
It’s not hard to understand why people are concerned – President Biden has failed us at every turn. Americans are paying through the roof for gas and groceries, the crisis at the border continues to worsen, and crime is spiking across the country. Families are searching for baby formula and being told they should expect their power to shut off this summer. All these crises can be traced back to the Biden Administration’s incompetency and failed leadership.
While I’m not surprised that most Americans are worried about our future, I want to hear from you.

ICYMI: Fighting Against Tax Hikes & Wasteful Spending
With inflation bearing down on Iowa families, the Biden Administration still wants to raise taxes and spend more money we don’t have. This week, I joined Fox Business to discuss how I’ll fight back against tax hikes and wasteful spending that is making life unaffordable for Iowans.

There is nothing more important to me than family. I loved having Max and Jax in DC this week. Matt and I took Max and Jax to see the Constitution and Declaration of Independence at the National Archives Museum and to see the monuments. Love having them here with me!

Last weekend, the U.S. Army officially named its Army Reserve Center in Dubuque after SPC Ronald Rennison. SPC Rennison joined the Army in 1987 and received a Purple Heart for his service to our country. My team joined his family and members of the community at the ceremony to permanently honor his legacy.
