Early this spring, I took a look at the state of our state and the state of our nation as it relates to the marginalization of so many people, and knew it was time to jump into this mess so I could bring progress and possibility back to both.

As the Director of the Florida Anti-Defamation League, I worked with law enforcement and schools to root out hate at its source. As a civil and workers’ rights attorney, I tackled insidious cases around age, race, and pregnancy discrimination, and fought to protect seniors from financial abuse.

I’ve seen firsthand the everyday systemic issues that hold our country back, and I’ve done the work to try to fix the system from the outside — but I realized that the best way to move our nation forward is being where the votes are taken and the decisions are made.

We must ensure women have reproductive freedom. We must end gun violence. We must reform our criminal justice system. We must invest in public education. And we must lower costs facing hardworking families in order to build a thriving economy from the middle out, not the top down.

We must elect a fighter who will confront these challenges head-on, and I’m ready to fight for you if you’ll give me a chance, friend.
