Friend,
?
Three weeks ago, the radical-right Supreme Court overturned 49 years of precedent and revoked women's reproductive rights in America.
?
The end of Roe v. Wade is a disaster for the women who will be forced to turn to dangerous and illegal providers. It's also a disaster for the Court, which has shredded 250 years of legitimacy and embraced a new and dangerous role as an openly partisan branch of government. It now falls to the elected branches of government, Congress and the Presidency, to protect the Constitutional rights of all Americans.
?
It is time for Congress to enshrine Roe v. Wade into law.
?
In the aftermath of the decision, I did an interview for NSPR, the Chico/Redding NPR station. You can listen to it here: https://www.mynspr.org/tags/max-steiner

Republicans continue to propose laws in the House and Senate that would further restrict women's reproductive choices. My opponent Doug LaMalfa was on the House floor just yesterday calling for a nationwide ban on abortions once women hit 5 weeks. As everyone knows, many women don't even realize they're pregnant until after week 6.
?
The story of a 10-year old rape victim who had to leave Indiana to have an abortion is a dark glimpse of the future. The National Right to Life organization - a powerful Republican interest group that wrote the anti-abortion law in Indiana wants to pass laws that would force that victim to have a child.
?
Let's be clear: the modern Republican Party does not value anyone's freedoms except their own. National legislation to outlaw abortion is a real risk. The argument for "state's rights" has always been a tactical and temporary excuse - just as McConnell flipped his position on confirming a Supreme Court Justice in an election year.
?
Remember when Trump's Supreme Court nominees said Roe was "settled law?" They lied. Lying has become the Republican brand. We can't let them take Congress: they have every intention of taking away our rights - even though they deny it.
?
I'm doing everything in my power to prevent these extremists from taking power. Here in CD-01, that starts by stopping Doug LaMalfa. If you're with me, please chip in a donation to support my campaign today.

Thanks for your support,
