For over 40 years, Republican extremists have chiseled away at our democracy via their Southern Strategy, seizing power over numerous states in the process. Yet, Democrats have never really devised a similarly comprehensive strategy that matches this effort.

That’s why we created our Flip the South program, a strategy that uses proven grassroots organizing tactics and innovative applications of data science based on our success flipping Virginia in 2019 and two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia in 2020.

Now, with trigger laws – a ban on abortion that takes effect with the overturning of Roe v. Wade – in place throughout the south, this work is more important than ever.

Given the enormous electoral power of the South and the millions of people whose rights are on the line, the long-term positive impact of flipping even just one southern state is incalculable.

Here’s the thing many people in the establishment don’t want you to believe… we can Flip the South!

In fact, the south has only been a Republican stronghold for so long because candidates and organizations typically don’t talk to the voters who reliably turn out for Democrats. I’m talking about the New American Majority of Black and brown voters.

These states could flip tomorrow if we could just organize and activate those voters. And that's the problem. Few large national organizations are doing it. But we are and, with your help, we can take it to the next level.

We must build up our organizing efforts in the South. If money were no object, we would have staffers on the ground today, registering voters and knocking on doors in every state, talking about how Republicans are stripping away the right to choose and making it tougher for them to vote.

Now it’s time to get creative and ramp up our efforts. It’s time to throw out the old playbook and imagine what could be if we thought outside the box and focused our energy in the right places.
