The Consumer Price Index rate hit a whopping 9.1% in June, the highest since November 1981. The value of your hard-earned dollars is plummeting faster than Joe Biden’s approval rating. If this lackadaisical economic policy continues, we will surely head into a gargantuan recession. Reckless and wasteful spending is growing into a massive national security issue as we continue to sink deeper and deeper into debt. Last July, Joe Biden told the American people that skyrocketing inflation was “temporary.” Just as he has been about every major economic issue facing America, Biden was wrong. And now, Americans are paying more for just about everything because of inflation.
This week, I joined Ranking Member Sam Graves for a roundtable with state, local, and industry stakeholders about how inflation affects their ability to plan and execute infrastructure improvements and how issues with inflation, supply chain, energy instability, and workforce shortages are all exacerbating one another. Watch it here.

Today, I joined Rep. Arrington, Texas sheriffs, former Virginia Attorney General, and other members of Congress to address the drug cartels and; the invasion at our southern border. I called for a fundamental and sweeping response to the full-scale invasion at our southern border. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Secretary Mayorkas MUST answer for the thousands of deaths and assaults of migrants and the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of fentanyl overdoses that plague the country. America is our home, and the Democrat Party has their feet on their desks, letting Americans be poisoned by the cartels that control Mexico.
I am a proud co-sponsor of H.J. Res. 50, which affirms the rights of states to protect their sovereign border when the federal government fails to do so. This is following the recent executive order by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the decision of Texas officials to declare a border invasion, and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s decision to do the same.

Tomorrow, my office will be hosting a Hurricane Preparedness Expo in Brazoria County. There will be local elected officials and over a dozen non-profits and agencies to provide resources on how to be better prepared for a hurricane. I encourage you to come out and invite a friend to attend the event.

Today, I voted against House Democrats' "Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act" and "Ensuring Access to Abortion Act." Both bills go much further than codifying Roe v. Wade and would legalize abortion for all nine months of pregnancy across the country while undermining the health and safety of women. The insanity from the Far-Left to give the green light to allow the killing of an innocent unborn baby is insane. When 80% of Americans think late-term abortion should be illegal, so why on earth is Speaker Pelosi pushing her radical agenda by saying abortion is "core to who we are. It's about freedom." This shows how far out of touch the Democrats are with the American people. The Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade will save COUNTLESS innocent lives, and I will continue to fight against the unhinged left. DEMOCRATS’ ABORTION ON DEMAND UNTIL BIRTH ACT - The Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act is extreme. It would create a national standard to allow for abortions of unborn children for any reason and at any stage of pregnancy up until birth.
- The American people do not support abortions with no limits. 80% of Americans say abortion should be illegal in the third trimester.
- The Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act allows for discriminatory abortions on the basis of a baby’s sex, race, and disability.
- It would override pro-life laws and prohibit states from enacting legislation that protects unborn children, such as protections for babies with Down syndrome and other disabilities.
- It removes commonsense protections for women and children. For example, the Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act would not allow states to enact laws to ensure parental involvement for minors or laws to protect women from coercion.
- This bill includes vague language that could also weaken conscience protections for medical professionals, and limit their right to refuse to participate in an abortion.
- On September 24, 2021, nearly every Democrat in the House voted on an almost identical bill (H.R. 3755) for abortion on demand until birth.
DEMOCRATS’ ENSURING ACCESS TO ABORTION ACT - Does nothing to explicitly prevent an unrelated adult or sexual abuser from taking a minor out-of-state for an abortion.
- Undermines mandatory reporting laws in every state that require health professionals, social workers, and schools to report instances of child abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect as that could be seen as delaying or hindering access to an abortion.
- Undermines the ability of states to hold sexual abusers accountable.
- Undermines parental consent for minors to travel across state lines. Parents can be targeted by the federal government and sued for wanting to help their child and asking them to delay traveling out- of-state to get an abortion.
- Undermines the health and safety of women by overriding the majority of states that have determined it is safest for doctors to prescribe pills for a chemical abortion. By eliminating medical supervision, this puts women and minors at increased risk if they need care for severe bleeding, infection, or surgical intervention.
- Stops states from preventing abortion pill mills and gives human traffickers and abusers more direct access to chemical abortions in all 50 states.
