Governor DeWine Appoints Schafer to Medina County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Julie A. Schafer to the Medina County Court of Common Pleas,?Domestic Relations Division.
Schafer, of Wadsworth, Ohio, will assume office on Aug. 1, 2022, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Mary Kovack, who died. Schafer must run for election in November 2022 in order?to complete the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2024.
She started her career in law as an attorney and partner at Schafer & Carr, Co., LPA before moving on to become a judge for the Akron Municipal Court in 2014. From there, Schafer was a judge for the State of Ohio's Ninth District Court of Appeals, and most recently, trial magistrate for the Summit County Domestic Relations Court.?
Schafer received her law degree from the University of Akron. Additionally, she earned her undergraduate degrees at Brooks College and Hiram College, and her master's degree at the University of Akron.
She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Northeast Ohio Classical Academy. She has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and Guardian ad Litem. Additionally, she served on the Copley-Fairlawn Board of Education as President and Vice President.
