Lauren Underwood For Congress

John — Three weeks ago today, the Supreme Court released their disastrous decision overturning Roe v. Wade and wiping out abortion access for millions of Americans.

Like so many of you, I’m devastated by this decision. I want you to know that I’m committed to doing everything I can to ensure a future where women can make decisions about their own bodies, lives, and futures, and live with dignity, equality, and justice.

That’s why I’ve been working around the clock to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, legislation that would protect our fundamental reproductive rights and guarantee equal access to abortion, no matter where you live. And in the House of Representatives, we have passed this critical legislation — twice in fact!

But here’s the problem: every time this bill reaches the Senate floor, Mitch McConnell and every single Republican Senator votes against it. And because the Senate filibuster requires 60 votes for any legislation to pass the chamber, Republicans can effectively rule from the minority and block the progress that the majority of Americans want.

The filibuster has got to go — no ifs, ands, or buts about it. And to make that happen, we’ll have to not only protect our Democratic House majority, but also expand our majority in the Senate.

That’s why my team and I are working hard to protect this seat and make sure other pro-choice Democrats win their races, too — and we’ll need this grassroots team by our side every step of the way.

So, John, I’m personally asking: Will you pitch in to protect this seat and help elect pro-choice Democrats up and down the ballot this November? With so much at stake in this election — from women’s rights to voting rights and affordable health care — your support is more important than ever before.
