I know my story isn’t unique: there are thousands of mamas in Kentucky who are making painful sacrifices, working multiple jobs, and still can’t make ends meet.
Yesterday we celebrated my mom’s birthday.
Her sacrifice is why I’m here. When I was growing up, after doing my homework, mom would call me down for dinner. Sometimes, she’d give me my plate and leave the kitchen. I noticed she wasn’t eating, and asked her why.
After avoiding my question, she admitted she wasn’t eating to save food for me.
Mom, thank you. Thank you for your strength, your love, your grace, and your sacrifice. Thank you for being the best mom I could ever ask for. I am proud of you, and honored to celebrate you with the world.

I know my story isn’t unique: there are thousands of mothers in Kentucky who are making painful sacrifices, working multiple jobs, and still can’t make ends meet. That’s why I believe it’s time to write a new kind of politics that works for families, not corporations. We need to replace Rand Paul with a leader who understands the pain working families in our country face.
Will you chip in to support our grassroots movement so we can replace Rand Paul? I’m going to need all the help I can get to make sure we can build a people-powered campaign that will lift up all of our mamas and families in Kentucky.

Whenever someone asks why I decided to get involved in public service, I remember this moment.
For generations, Kentuckians have been waiting for change and hoping that things might get better. But it’s clear to me now that the change we’ve been waiting for will never happen unless we fight for it.
That’s why it’s critical we organize in every corner of Kentucky and make sure we have the grassroots support it’ll take to defeat Rand Paul. If you’re with me in this fight, I hope you can make a donation today.
Together,
Charles Booker
