Yesterday, I joined Leader Fentrice Driskell and a few of my other legislative colleagues at a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss my opponents' threats of an outright ban on all abortions in Florida without any exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother–bans that criminalize women who seek an abortion and jail doctors who provide a medical service–if they win.

She discussed all the ways the Administration is working to protect women in states controlled by Republicans from their extreme agenda that would dissolve the privacy of the doctor-patent relationship. Plain and simple, the Florida GOP is trying to take us backwards.

She asked us about what we're hearing on the ground, and as the one Member in the room that represents a district that voted for Trump, I conveyed what I have heard directly from Republican and Independent women who view this as a personal attack on their individual freedom. Then, I thanked her and pointed out that the Administration should do more to work with us as we roll-out these Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill projects that are resulting in real, tangible differences in people's daily commutes.

Look, we can, should, and MUST do all of these things. We must defend women's rights, we must protect a personal right to privacy, and we need to fix these damn roads too! We're fighting for the 10-year-old rape-victim who had to travel to another state because she was denied abortion care in her state. We're fighting for YOUR right to be free and live as equals in America. AND we're fighting to fix the damn roads, lower gas prices, and get prices under control

We're Democrats, so there's plenty we disagree on. We're not organized and monolithic in our thinking. But that's OK! What matters is that we're united in our steadfast dedication to defending freedom, protecting YOUR constitutional rights, and fixing these damn roads!
