Dear John,
It's been another eventful week in the Americas. Mexico's president Andrés Manuel López Obrador traveled to Washington D.C. to meet Joe Biden to discuss ongoing cooperation between both countries, including the pressing issue of migration in the context of historic levels of regional displacement and arrivals of migrants and asylum seekers in Mexico and the United States.
We at WOLA delved into some of the key measures both governments should implement to ensure migration is managed in an effective and sustainable way while respecting human rights. This week we also analyzed the ongoing challenges facing countries in Central America.
The subregion has become the epicenter of Latin America's new authoritarian wave, but also home to scores of organizations, movements and activists fighting to secure justice for human rights abuses and to combat corruption. This September, WOLA is honoring some of these courageous individuals at our Human Rights Awards Ceremony and Benefit Gala. Check out how you can be part of this night of commemoration and celebration below.
Thanks for reading and please help us spread the word! Warmly, |
