WOBURN -- After a Boston Herald report called attention to Massachusetts U.S. District Attorney Rachael Rollins' attendance at a high-dollar Democratic Party fundraiser hosted by First Lady Jill Biden, Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons joined other GOP officials in calling on U.S. Department of Justice Inspector General to conduct an immediate investigation.

Under the federal law known as the Hatch Act, federal employees like Rollins are barred from using their powerful positions in government for partisan political purposes. The Herald report included photos of Rollins arriving at the the First Lady's Andover soirée during business hours in a government vehicle.

Lyons said Rollins' actions are yet another example of Democrats inserting partisan politics into what should be a nonpartisan position of law enforcement.

"Just as we've seen with Attorney General Maura Healey, Rachael Rollins, the former Suffolk DA bankrolled by radicals like George Soros, is using her position in law enforcement for political purposes," Lyons said. "This individual is Massachusetts' lead federal prosecutor and is apparently attending high-dollar Democratic Party fundraisers during business hours on the taxpayer's dime.

"The Democrats do this because they believe the rule of law does not apply to them."
