Right now, talks are under way in Congress around a budget reconciliation package — but unacceptably, the package does not include a single penny for child care or early childhood education.
Reconciliation is likely our last and best opportunity to make the necessary and urgent changes needed to prevent our child care system from collapse. There is a proposal, from Senators Patty Murray and Tim Kaine, to increase funding for child care in reconciliation. But we don’t have much time left to get it included in the reconciliation framework.
