I'm backing Penny Mordaunt to be our next Party Leader and Prime Minister
I'm Backing Penny
Thank you to the 800+ people who voted in my poll, I’m delighted to say that I will be supporting Penny Mordaunt in the Leadership Contest. Penny was Chippenham’s most popular choice for our next Prime Minister by far, and I’m confident that she has the skills, vision and experience to lead, and lead our country.
Penny shares my Conservative values of a small state, with low taxes and ensuring that education is at the heart of government:
⛽️ Cutting VAT on fuel by half + relentless focus on the cost of living
👨👩👦 Supporting families inc personal budgets for subsidised childcare
💪 Clear commitment to defence spending and importance of military community
📈 Small state, low tax, pro-growth economy
🌾 Prioritising rural areas and supporting our farmers
👩🎓 She will continue the quality drive I have been working on in Higher Education and prioritise skills so people can reskill and upskill
There is little doubt we have some real challenges ahead, and having spoken to Penny this week, I’ve no doubt that she is the right woman for the job.
