| It’s tempting, in the throes of summer boredom, to make your home a sort of seasonal multiplex for the kids. Plop them in front of Disney+ and let the laughs come. There’s nothing wrong with a hefty dose of kids movies, but if that’s the go-to activity for the summer, you’re missing an opportunity. Summer is the perfect time for kids to run wild, untethered from screens and out of the confines of classrooms and living rooms. A summer outside — in backyards, on beaches, by streams, and around playgrounds — is a summer well spent. Also, researchers are quick to point out, simply being outside is great for cognitive and emotional development — not to mention asthma and ADHD. So open your doors and let the kids out. That’s what summer’s all about. |
