Current Happenings NEW VIRTUAL LEARNING CLASSES Before sending our littles ones back to school, join Alliance For Children in August for our virtual learning series for parents, caregivers and school professionals working with children. Through these training opportunities, protective adults can learn different measures to take and conversations to have with children to establish rules and guidelines, helping empower and prepare children to know what to do when tricky situations occur. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 – 12:00pm-1:30pm Child Abuse Prevention 101 for School Professionals This mandated reporter training is essential for any school or youth serving professionals to learn about the different forms of abuse, recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse, and how to properly handle a disclosure in the state of Texas. Friday, August 12, 2022 – 12:00pm-1:00pm Responsible Internet Safety for Kids (R.I.S.K.) This presentation focuses on how to facilitate conversations with children and teens about the internet. Learn tips to better protect children online, no matter how they access it. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 – 9:00am-11:00am Stewards of Children® This training educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, and motivates them to courageous action. Monday August 22, 2022 – 12:00pm-1:00pm Safety Starts at Home: Child Abuse Prevention Through this training, parents can learn how to set protective factors and thoughtful safeguards to help provide a safe and nurturing environment for children. Additionally, attendees will learn how to communicate with and comfort a child who makes a disclosure of abuse. Thursday, August 25, 2022 – 12:00-1:00pm Discussing Body Safety with Your Children Talking with children about their bodies is a major protective factor to prevent abuse. Learn practical tips and current professional recommendations on developmentally appropriate conversations with children regarding personal body safety. Register Here *Link to attend will be sent upon registration. Camp B.L.U.E. was a barrel of fun! Our summer campers had an amazing week at Camp B.L.U.E. (Building. Learning. Understanding. Empowering)*. The week was made up of fun field trips, interactions with first responders including mounted patrol, SWAT, and the fire department, face painting, games, snacks, movies, and tons of fun! Thanks to everyone who volunteered or donated to make this week possible! A special thanks to Fort Worth Police Department and Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex staff, Fort Worth Fire Department, Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth, Nothing Bundt Cakes North Arlington, Pinspiration Fort Worth, Dallas Jackals Rugby, Alley Cats Entertainment, The Colossal Sandwich Shop, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament - Dallas, Blush + Whisk, and Juleon D. Lewis. *Campers were children who have almost completed or recently completed our counseling program, and ranged in age from 6-15.
