John,
We talk a lot about what we’re fighting against. Today, we’d like to talk more about what we’re fighting for.
First and foremost, we’re fighting for our democracy. Every Pennsylvanian has the right to make their voice heard, we must continue to protect our sacred freedom to vote.
Recently, in Pennsylvania, we have seen attacks against our democracy and our right to vote by proposed constitutional amendments, legislative bills to restrict access to the ballot, and the sham election audit.
We’re also fighting for nonpartisan redistricting. Currently, Pennsylvania law puts state legislators in charge of redrawing congressional maps, which can lead to blatant power grabs and conflicts of interests. The result is gerrymandering: the practice of manipulating voting districts to benefit political parties, not people.
Gerrymandered districts give voters less voice and less choice, and therefore they don’t see themselves represented in Harrisburg or Washington, D.C. We believe districts should be drawn without favor to one party or another.
In solidarity,
Team NPP
