By now you know that Groundwork Project is funneling resources year-round to hyperlocal organizations in our four partner states – Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma and West Virginia.

Not only do we channel our support via larger partner grants, Groundwork Project also recently launched a mini-grant program, sending grants up to $2,000 to organizers and organizations who apply for a quick injection of extra support around specific projects and programs. Organizers often need to make difficult decisions on which line items to fund, and Groundwork — with your support — is able to help make those decisions easier.

I had our team pull an exclusive list of our most active followers and saw you have engaged with our program over the last month or so.

So I wanted to introduce you to two recent mini-grantees so you can see first hand how we’re turning your contributions into action. But before I do, can you help us raise another $8,567 before our internal budgeting deadline this Friday? Make a contribution here.

Groundwork Mini-Grantees

Groundwork offered a mini-grant to Black by God, a media and storytelling organization dedicated to uplifting Black voices in West Virginia. The grant will support their newsletter that educates over a thousand readers about Black history, politics, and news impacting West Virginians.

The Literary Healing Arts uses creative expression to improve mental health in the rural South. The organization will use Groundwork’s mini-grant funding to host writing workshops focused on the trauma the criminal legal system can inflict on individuals and their loved ones. The stories that emerge from the writing workshops will be used to advocate for more just laws in Alabama.

Inspired by the work these organizations are doing? Help Groundwork Project continue to identify and funnel resources to other efforts just like them. We award as many as five mini-grants every single month – if able, become a monthly sustainer now!

Give MONTHLY

If you can’t make a monthly commitment, you can also make a one time contribution here.

We know the budget crunch that comes with organizing in under-resourced communities, and that a small influx of cash can translate into something transformative: a major community event, a critical GOTV canvass, an innovative organizer training, some needed new technology, and so much more.

Thanks for being an active part of this effort,
Emily
