Dear Friend,

The Dirty Dozen List has enormous impact. Each year, it leads to major victories and continued progress – progress you have helped make possible!

We’re now about halfway into 2022, and we need your continued support to ensure these companies are hearing our message and are working to change for the better. One of those companies is Discord, a widely popular communication platform for adults and children alike.

Why should you care about Discord?

Despite Discord’s popularity and rapid growth – going from just 56 million active monthly users in 2019 to more than 150 million users in 2021 with millions of those users young children and teens – the company has:

  • Consistently failed to address the extensive sexually graphic, violent, and exploitative content on its thousands of private and public channels – including child sexual abuse material and nonconsensually-shared images;
  • Created inadequate age verification, moderation, and filtering strategies, instead relying on users themselves to moderate and report issues;
  • Facilitated a space for sexual grooming by abusers or sex traffickers, leaving it anything but a safe and friendly place for minors.

Discord’s inadequate age verification and moderation procedures means millions of children and teen users are left with near-unmitigated exposure to child sexual abuse material, nonconsensual pornography trading, and the predatory grooming that are rampant on its platform.

Help us demand that Discord do more to protect kids by taking action here!
