Inflation has surged to a 40-year high of 9.1% in June.

Month-to-month consumer prices rose by 1.3% in June, which is the largest single-month acceleration of this inflationary cycle, surpassing the prior monthly increases of 1.2% in March and 1% in May. 

Some prices that have seen the largest increases due to inflation include fuel oil increasing by 98.5%, gasoline increasing by 59.9%, and utility gas service increasing by 38.4%.

Streamlining the VA’s Processes for Covering Veterans Who Were Exposed to Toxic Substances (S. 3373)

This bill — the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022 — would streamline the Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) process for determining what toxic exposures can be covered under VA care. 

The Senate passed this bill on an 84-14 vote, and the House passed a different version of the bill on a 256-174 vote.
