Friends, As Jeff’s Campaign Manager, I want you to know that I’ve worked on many, many campaigns. Believe me when I tell you, it is not normal for 500 people to show up to an event. Not for the kickoff. Not for the final rally. Certainly not for a random Saturday four months before the election. But when Jeff asked if anyone wanted to get a beer with him, that’s what happened. It was a burst of positive energy for our campaign — and it was totally demoralizing to any of the outside groups that are looking to parachute in and boost our opponent (who has held a grand total of zero public events). Look — Jeff is focused on connecting with people, learning from them, talking policy, trying to find ways to actually make a difference. That’s what he loves and he’s good at it. But my job is to make sure we win. So we’re a little different that way, but that’s the way it has to be. From my standpoint, you couldn’t have a clearer sign of momentum than the event we just had.
