Dear Friends,
I became a mother for the first time at 16, and being a mother is one of the greatest honors of my life — but I also know what it’s like to struggle as a young, working mom. I know that the right to choose is a lifeline for those who are in poverty, those who have health issues, and those in domestic violence situations.
And I know the recent decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade will only lead to a dangerous lack of access to healthcare for women.
Florida Republicans have already passed and signed into law one of the most restrictive anti-choice laws in the history of this state. And now that Roe is overturned, we know they won’t stop there.
Friends, it’s up to us in state legislatures to fight back against attacks on our freedoms — now and in the future.
That’s why I’m so proud to work with Ruth’s List, an organization dedicated to recruiting and electing Democratic pro-choice women across Florida.
I’m facing a GOP opponent hand-picked by Governor Ron DeSantis in what will be one of the most competitive elections this year. The last thing we need right now is another anti-choice legislator in Tallahassee. More than ever, we need to protect this seat in the Florida Senate and make sure I can continue to stand alongside Ruth’s List in the fight for reproductive rights.
