Below are just a few highlights from our action-packed month: -
We updated and expanded our #TransPeopleVote resources for all 50 states and DC in partnership with HeadCount, ensuring that LGBTQ+ voters have everything they need to cast their ballots safely and confidently.
-
To get the word out about our resources, VoteRiders teamed up with HeadCount to host a Pride-themed Ask Me Anything event on Reddit, which was viewed more than 19,000 times. We answered questions about voter registration, voter ID, and what LGBTQ+ voters need to know ahead of this year’s elections. Later in the month, we joined HeadCount and Bridge Together live on Twitter Spaces to share how our organizations can help trans and nonbinary voters.
-
VoteRiders organized three Pride-themed virtual letter-writing parties that drew hundreds of volunteers from across the country. With their help, we exceeded our initial goal and wrote 11,000+ letters to voters alerting them to ID laws in their states. For the final letter-writing party, we were joined by several cast members from Hamilton, who offered words of inspiration and musical entertainment to boot!
-
On the ground in our priority states, VoteRiders organized workshops for LGBTQ+ organizational leaders, allies, and community partners to help prepare transgender and nonbinary voters for upcoming elections. Our staff led a “Vote Con Orgullo,” workshop in Florida and also partnered with the Gender Advancement Project, All Voting Is Local, Human Rights Campaign, and Hope Community Center to host a #TransPeopleVote event, where participating organizations helped voters petition for legal name changes, order documents, and update their voter registration.
