I've been concerned about the direction of the Supreme Court for a while. That's why I previously called for expanding the court, and why I held a hearing about the ongoing crisis of of abortion care access in the Judicary Committee before the Supreme Court even issued their disastrous
Dobbs decision overturning
Roe.
Now, I’m now widening the lens to show just how extreme this Supreme Court and its Republican enablers are willing to be.
Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion is a chilling threat to our liberty — the right to privacy and substantive due process is under threat. This SCOTUS has its eye on upending the right to contraception, marriage equality, and the private relational matters between consenting adults. That’s why I’m holding a crucial hearing on these extremely serious implications.
Thomas Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in the gay marriage case— Obergefell v. Hodges —will testify in this House Judiciary Committee hearing.
It’s important that we highlight just how serious things have gotten. We cannot let this court dictate the private lives of ordinary citizens. Please, sign on now to show your support for my actions.
