Team,
Here in Nevada, we sadly have had the distinction of having among the highest rates of domestic fatalities in the country. Far too many Nevada women are subjected to abuse, stalking, and other dangerous behavior. We need our leaders to take a stand now to help protect women.
The Violence Against Women Act funds crucial resources and protections for people in Nevada and across the nation who have suffered or are suffering from domestic violence and abuse. The Democratic House has passed a pivotal bill to reauthorize and strengthen VAWA, but Majority Leader McConnell and the Republicans are standing in the way in the Senate.
I am urging my Republican colleagues to support the House-passed reauthorization of VAWA because the fight against domestic violence can’t wait. Women are being victimized and murdered every day. We need to strengthen and reauthorize VAWA right away.
Now is the time for all of us to raise our voices and demand that Mitch McConnell and the GOP stop standing in the way of protecting victims and supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
Thank you,
Jacky
