A massive thank you to everyone who nominated, voted for and attended our Park Protector Awards ceremony in the Houses of Parliament earlier this week, and to the incredible Park Protectors we've met along the way.

We were blown away by the quality of applications, and our judging panel had the unenviable job of picking a winner for the main award and New Perspectives award, while you helped us decide our Volunteer of the Year.

We are now delighted to reveal the winners:

  • Park Protector Award (sponsored by WWF-UK)Fix the Fells, a team of 170 people caring for over 400 miles of path in Lake District National Park
  • New Perspectives Award (sponsored by Natural England)AKA Health, Wealth & Oneness, a trio of friends - Anton, Kevin and Antwon – working tirelessly to help more people connect with the Peak District National Park
  • Volunteer of the Year Award (sponsored by Original Cottages)Chris Maloney, also known as ‘Keeper of the Peak’, who has built up an online following among mountain bikers to connect people to caring for Peak District National Park.

Speaking after the Park Protector Awards ceremony, our Chief Executive Dr Rose O'Neill said: "We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the brilliant Park Protectors and learning more about their work but, perhaps more importantly, we were able to showcase this to politicians and National Park leaders in Parliament.

"We were able to show just how important National Parks are to everyone, and why we need more legislation and investment to protect them and enable them to deliver more for people, nature and climate. In that room was so much passion, energy and diversity which we can build on to create a better future for National Parks.
