I’ll be the first to admit that this past year of campaigning with my husband John hasn’t always been easy. Now, as we near Primary Election Day in just 6 days, I can say with confidence that all those long drives from Silver Spring to Hagerstown, all those late nights making calls, all those meaningful conversations with Marylanders have all been worth it to see the impact that John is already making on this state.

I’ve known my husband for a loooong time (we just celebrated our 21st anniversary!), and I know better than anyone just how good a governor John will be. John’s entire career in public service — whether as a middle school social studies teacher, a high school principal, President Obama’s Secretary of Education, or a leader of a national civil rights organization — has been leading to this moment.

His vision to build a more equitable Maryland is grounded in a clear understanding that schools save lives and state government has the power to be a transformative force of good. School saved John’s life when he was a kid, and as governor I know he’ll fight tirelessly to ensure every Maryland child receives the world-class education they deserve. Not just in the areas with wealthy zip codes, but in every corner of the state.

But, he needs our help to send him to Annapolis. John’s campaign team has communicated to me how crucial the final push to the primary is, and recent polling shows that over 20% of likely Democratic voters are still undecided. So if you’re ready to bring real, positive change to Maryland and agree that John is the guy for the job, please take a moment to take one of the following actions to support our campaign:

I am so proud of John and all of the hard work he’s put into this campaign. With so much at stake this election – from abortion rights, to the climate crisis, to public education funding – it’s more crucial than ever that we elect a governor who will prioritize equity at every turn.

That’s why I’m humbly asking if you can make a donation of whatever works for your budget — $500, $50, or even $5 — to help fuel this campaign across the finish line.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.

John, our daughters Amina and Mireya, and I have been truly humbled by the immense showing of support Marylanders from every corner of the state have shown us and I know that together, we are going to continue making Maryland a better place to call home – for your kids and mine.

Thank you for your support,
