More than 210,000 student loan borrowers are currently victims of predatory colleges -- and 5,600 are right here in Michigan.

These colleges misled students with false career promises and engaged in deceptive lending practices that left many without a completed education and thousands in student loan debt.

Now, Trump’s Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has made a decision to gut an Obama-era rule that forgives the loans of students who have been defrauded or misled by their college.

The cost of higher education is already far too high.

That’s why I’ve fought in Congress to relieve the burdens of student loan debt and ensure students can get a higher education and have stability in their financial futures.

We need to put an end to Betsy DeVos’ irresponsible rule that burdens students for the predatory practices of these colleges, many of which were for-profit and have shut down.
