John,
Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Steve Dettelbach to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). After more than a decade, the only governmental organization in charge of enforcing gun laws in our country finally has a permanent director.
It took 15 years to reach this point, because the gun lobby and NRA fought against it for so long. But their deadly grip on the ATF is finally lifted and now, the agency will be modernized and enabled to robustly enforce our nation’s gun laws. This means stemming the flow of illegal crime guns into our communities and properly addressing gun dealers who are breaking the law.
This critical victory comes only weeks after the Senate passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, while other states passed or signed 18 gun violence prevention bills into law. This progress is possible because grassroots activists like you did not give up. You helped send hundreds of messages and calls to Senators to demand action and we are seeing them finally take notice.
We’re finally seeing transformative action in our nation and we can’t lose this momentum. Our movement is stronger together – we’ve already proven that – but there is still more work to be done for every American to be safe from gun violence. I’m counting on our grassroots supporters to seize this moment of victory and continue to drive us forward: John, can you donate right now and help Brady make critical steps forward toward a safer country? >> [[link removed]]
