John,
Katie Porter started Truth to Power to elect leaders who will join her in the fight to hold special interests and those with power accountable. All Truth to Power candidates reject corporate PAC money and are committed to fighting for the right to an abortion, to lower costs for families, and protect the environment.
Today we’re announcing three newly endorsed House candidates. Delia Ramirez, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and Jeff Jackson are running in must-win seats for Democrats. They could really use your support as we enter the final months before the election. Can you contribute $20 that will be split between their campaigns and Truth to Power?
Delia Ramirez The daughter of working-class Guatemalan immigrants, Delia Ramirez is an accomplished legislator, social service director, community leader, and coalition builder who has dedicated her life and career to advocating for working people. She’s now running to be the first Latina elected to Congress from the Midwest. Delia's been an effective leader in Illinois’ General Assembly, and now she’s running for Congress to continue fighting for her community. She’s running in Illinois' third congressional district, a newly drawn district which includes parts of Chicago and portions of suburban Cook and DuPage counties. There’s no incumbent, making this a pick up opportunity for Democrats. |
Jamie McLeod-Skinner Jamie is a small business owner, attorney, and emergency response coordinator who began her career in public service managing the repairs of schools and hospitals in Bosnia and Kosovo. When she returned to the U.S. she managed refugee resettlement programs, worked in city and regional planning, served on city council, and has led wildfire recovery efforts. Jamie’s running to address the unsustainable rise in the cost of living and help us invest in the things we need to have a strong, stable, globally competitive economy. National outlets say this race is one of “seven close races that could decide control of the House” and one of the most competitive congressional races in the country. Oregon’s fifth congressional district stretches from the Portland suburbs to central Oregon. |
Jeff Jackson Jeff Jackson has always put his community first—as a veteran who enlisted after September 11th, a former assistant district attorney, state legislator, and current Major in the Army National Guard. After four terms in North Carolina’s State Senate, Jeff’s seen what effective leadership means and will fight for his constituents. Jeff’s opponent is an assault weapons manufacturer who would be a rubber stamp for the Republican Party’s agenda. This newly drawn seat includes Charlotte, and is another must-win seat for Democrats. |
