John,

We’re excited to have you as a part of our movement. We believe that as Californians we can come together to take actions BIG and small to create a California for all.

But let’s be real. We’ve got A LOT on our plate. The January 6 hearings have made even more clear that there is an assault on our democracy. On the heels of this threat, the Supreme Court has been staging a judicial coup of its own with six justices rewriting the laws and the Constitution to roll back protections of our bodily autonomy, environment, and civil rights. And as we continue to process recent mass shootings in Highland Park, Uvalde, and Buffalo, the Supreme Court even expanded gun rights despite our repeated demands for common-sense gun control.

In California, many of us are reeling from the past 2 years of hardship as prices for housing, gas, and groceries rise. All the while giant corporations in our state sit on record profits and rig the rules to redirect resources from our communities to their own pockets. Oh, and did I mention our elections are coming up in November?

Ok, so we have our work cut out for us. But we know that when we come together to care for our neighbors and communities, we can make big changes for our state and our country. Now’s our chance.
