In North Carolina, the right to a safe and legal abortion is still protected, even after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade . But if it’s going to stay that way, we must elect pro-choice Democratic candidates who will defend a woman’s right to choose now and in the future.

With the midterm elections quickly approaching, will you commit today to vote for pro-choice Democratic candidates who will protect abortion rights and reproductive care? [[link removed]]

Last week, Governor Roy Cooper signed an Executive Order to help protect women’s access to reproductive health care in North Carolina.

This Order will help protect North Carolina doctors, nurses, and their patients from cruel, right-wing laws criminalizing abortion passed by other states. And it will help ensure that local police enforce our state law that prevents anyone from obstructing or barring access to a health care facility.

Right now, Governor Cooper and our Democratic legislators are our firewall standing between the Republican-controlled General Assembly and tighter abortion restrictions in North Carolina.

And if Republicans win a veto-proof supermajority in our state legislature this fall, nothing – not even a veto by Governor Cooper – would stop them from passing an abortion ban here in our state.

So if we want to continue defending reproductive rights and to stop Republican attacks on women's rights, we have to double down on our commitment to elect pro-choice Democratic candidates up and down the ballot this year.
