[A #RealConvo with Black Men about Mental Health and Suicide Prevention]([link removed])
We need to talk about the intersection between Black men, mental health and suicide prevention – but first, we need to listen.
Join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at 4 p.m. ET on July 19 at @afspnational on Facebook or YouTube Live for a conversation moderated by AFSP Senior Vice President of Research, Dr. Jill Harkavy-Friedman. Dr. Jill will be joined by panelists Doug Middleton, who lost his childhood friend to suicide; David Threatt, who will share his message of hope regarding his lived experience; and Phillip Tyler, who found a way forward after the heartbreak of losing his son. The group will cover:
- cultural considerations involved in seeking or offering help
- shared experiences in talking about mental health with friends and family
- understanding what resources are available when someone needs support
- how to encourage openness and help-seeking
We hope you’ll join us, as we grapple together with the realities of how we can all be a part of being there for each other, and creating a safety net within communities everywhere.
