John, when it
comes to our reproductive freedom, it is clear that the right-wing,
extremist Supreme Court will not stop at overturning Roe v. Wade. We must
fight to codify abortion rights in Congress, and we must also pass
legislation to protect the right to contraception.

We are already seeing efforts by state and local governments to take away
access to contraception methods, especially after the Supreme Court's
extreme decision on abortion. With the Protecting Access to Contraception
Act that I introduced last week, we will guarantee that anyone who wants
access to contraceptive care can get it without state or local officials
weighing in on their bodies and their reproductive choices.

A radical, extremist Supreme Court is taking away our rights. SCOTUS is
stepping in to overturn settled precedent on abortion access, gun safety,
environmental protections, and much more. Justice Thomas indicated he’s
ready to overturn Court decisions establishing same-sex marriage rights
and the right to contraception.

The Protecting Access to Contraception Act would forbid state or local
governments from prohibiting or otherwise restricting the possession,
sale, purchase, transportation or use of any contraceptive that relates to
interstate commerce.

It’s critically important that we act on this now. That means codifying
abortion rights AND the right to contraception. The House must pass my
contraceptive care bill. Then, the Senate must nix the filibuster and pass
both bills to protect reproductive rights and care in America.
